Hello! welcome to my digital fashion designing portfolio (ෆᵔ ᵕ ᵔෆ)♡
My name is Katie and I am eighteen years old. My fashion brand Katie Gaeun comes from my first and middle name, an homage to my half-Korean ancestry. My love for sewing and fashion designing blossomed during the summer before my sophomore year in high school when I traveled to Taiwan with my grandparents. I attended a sewing class with my grandma where I learned to sew a teddy bear and some bucket hats. There, I discovered my passion for fabricating creations solely from a piece of fabric and my individuality. That summer truly transformed my life as I found something that resonated with my identity, an aspiration that I have developed since.
In the fall of this year, I will be a freshman attending Boston College studying Global Public Health and The Common Good. Alongside my studies, I am beyond excited to further my fashion designing dreams by joining fashion organizations, events, and so much more. My greatest goal is to attend Paris Fashion Week!
I’ve also attended fashion shows that support a program called My Refuge House, a non-profit organization that restores survivors of sexual exploitation and abuse. I am a firm advocate for human-centered healthcare, and I am determined to contribute to both the medical field and the global fashion industry through my combined passions.
While designing, I strive to embody my personal fashion style of classical Romanticism, incorporating aspects of Victorian fashion, modern silhouettes, and my own unique perspectives. I hope you enjoy my designs as much as I do, and I am ecstatic for my future fashion aspirations.
